E2CCB Students Shine at SkillsUSA Region I Competition

Career & Technical Education students from across Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES showcased their talents Tuesday at the SkillsUSA Region I Leadership Conference & Skills Olympics held at Alfred State College. 

From the Ormsby Educational Center, top finishers included Oliver Dell of Springville, who earned first place in Animal Careers; Mia Flack of Orchard Park, second in T-Shirt Design/Miscellaneous; Allison Francis of East Aurora, third in Commercial Baking; Kyle Siepierski of East Aurora, first in Collision Repair; and the Esthetics Model Team, composed of Olivia Thomas of Iroquois and Jane Hereth of Orchard Park, who also placed first. 

Participating students from Ormsby included Reyanna Almadrahi, Emily Biron, Austin Erhardt, Colletta Giallella, Jonna Grieco, Tiana Heusinger, Claire Imhof, Morgan Labrie, Lindsey Lippert, Sophia Majka, Alyssa Passanante, Stefano Passucci, Cristopher Polizzi, Sierra Reger, Emily Seifert, Alex Saxon, and Mya Williams.

At the Carrier Educational Center, Jacob Core of Forestville captured first place in Computer Maintenance, joining Madeline Schimacher in representing the school.

From the LoGuidice Educational Center, Elissa Parrish of Brocton earned third place in Custom Painting. Other participants from LoGuidice included Autumn Bailey, Colie Bundy, Samuel Coia, Donna Cupp, Sierra Smith, Olivia Shepard, Makayla Jimerson, Nadya Lebron, Yaneli Paz-Reyes, Jenna Puntillo, Brooke Proper, and Cameron Rinehart.

The Hewes Educational Center also saw strong showings with Kendall Danielson of Bemus Point placing third in Health Assisting; Caitlyn Kriner of Clymer earning second in Job Demo Open; Kylee Miller of Southwestern finishing second in Employment Application Process; and Gavin Gresh of Chautauqua Lake placing second in Restaurant Services. 

Hewes participants included Erica Cobbe, Sebastian DeJesus, Kylee Franklin, Elliott Gonzalez, Jessica Kier, Austin Mains, Maddison McClaran, Nicholas Melendez, Mason Moore, Chloe Taylor, Peyton Welch, and Aubree Williamson.

The annual SkillsUSA event provides students with opportunities to demonstrate technical skills, leadership abilities, and professional development across a wide range of career-focused programs.

Following regional competitions, students can advance to the New York State SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills Championships, to be held April 22–24 at the State Fairgrounds in Syracuse.
