Lead Testing
Lead Testing
Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES (E2CCB) is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all students, staff, and visitors at our sites and centers. As part of this commitment, E2CCB regularly conducts lead testing in compliance with New York State regulations and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) guidelines.
Lead testing is performed on water sources used for drinking and cooking at our facilities. If elevated levels of lead are detected, immediate action is taken, including disabling affected outlets, providing alternative water sources, and remediating the issue. Results of the lead testing, as well as steps taken to ensure the safety of our buildings, are made publicly available in accordance with state law.
Our goal is to ensure all E2CCB sites and centers remain in compliance with health and safety standards, providing a safe environment for everyone in our school community. For more information or to view detailed lead testing results, please contact the E2CCB Facilities Department.
Results and Schedule
In accordance with New York State Department of Health regulations, all public schools, including Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES (E2CCB), are required to conduct lead testing of water outlets used for drinking and food preparation every five years. This testing ensures the health and safety of students and staff across all educational facilities.
Standard remediation process (applies to any outlet above the NYS action level of 5 ppb)
- Immediately take the outlet out of service until corrective actions are completed and follow-up testing confirms lead is at/below 5 ppb.
- Provide an adequate supply of potable water for drinking/cooking until remediation is complete.
- Report results to the local health department within 1 business day of receiving the laboratory report.
- Notify staff and parents/guardians in writing within 10 business days of receiving the laboratory report.
