E2CCB`s District Superintendent, Dr. David O`Rourke, joined fellow superintendents from across New York State on Feb. 26 for BOCES Advocacy Day in Albany.
This annual event allows BOCES leaders to meet with lawmakers and advocate for critical education priorities. A key focus of this year`s Advocacy Day was voicing support for legislation that would amend the education law in relation to the salaries of certain teachers and aides employed by Boards of Cooperative Educational Services. This legislation aims to address salary disparities and ensure fair compensation for BOCES employees.
In addition, BOCES leaders advocated for increased school aid, updating the BOCES aid formula, retaining retirees in the workforce, and aligning allowable BOCES lease terms.
