E2CCB Hosts Esports Event For Area School Districts

On Friday, Feb. 13, E2CCB hosted an esport event at LoGuidice Educational Center, bringing in students from all over different districts to participate in a Mario Kart tournament.

Technology Integration Specialist at E22CB and Coordinator of esports, John Arcese, ran the event and said “Like anything we do in education, it is for the kids, so it is an opportunity for those kids playing video games at home — so why not bring them together collectively and work on social skills along with the enjoyment of gaming.”

At this event, students participated in friendly matches against one another on Mario Kart, a universally beloved video game. This ESports event invites students to be engaged, participate with one another, and connect through a shared love of video games.

First-place winner and Forestville Central student Levi expressed, “Esports is more fun than you think it is, it is not just some sort of nerdy game club.”

Moments like these at E2CCB remind us we can continue to build a sense of community through encouraging students to actively participate and express themselves.
