E2CCB Students Take Part In SkillsUSA State Competition

Nearly four dozen Career & Technical Education students representing 16 component school districts took part in the New York State SkillsUSA Leadership and Champions Conference held April 23-25 in Syracuse. 

Juniors and seniors from the Hewes, LoGuidice, and Ormsby educational centers  participated in a variety of competitions, including Welding, Prepared Speech, Carpentry, Culinary, Restaurant Service, Action Skills, Computer Programming, and Criminal Justice. The event, open to Career & Technical Education students across New York, is held annually at the New York State Fairgrounds. 

Four Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES students placed at this year’s SkillsUSA State Competition.

The following students from Hewes participated: Mackenzie Andrews of Southwestern, Kaydance Bogert of Clymer, Ronin Burham of Panama, Alex Caldwell of Bemus Point, Spencer Carlson of Panama, Sabastion DeJesus of Falconer, Jason Edwards of Southwestern, Logan Ellsworth of Panama, Elliott Gonzalez of Panama, Shaylynn Lane of Southwestern, Kylee Miller of Southwestern, Marissa Oakes of Southwestern, William Pentheny of Falconer, Donivan Sampsel-Lindberg of Jamestown, Angel Seeley of Southwestern, Chloe Stewart of Jamestown, Rhett Thompson of Bemus Point, Seth Vaughn of Southwestern, Jayanna Weinert of Jamestown, Peyton Welch of Falconer, and Timathy White of Clymer.

Sampsel-Lindberg placed third in the Computer Programming competition. Vaughn placed second in the Carpenter’s Assistant competition.  

The following students from LoGuidice participated: Jackson Burns of Brocton, Samuel Coia of Lake Shore, Jacquelyn Flick of Silver Creek, Kaylee Keating of Silver Creek, Benjamin Latimore of Gowanda, Nethaniel Parker of Silver Creek, Eric Pryll of Brocton, Damian Rainelli of Lake Shore, Colin Shumaker of Silver Creek, Lillian Teeter of Westfield, and Nicholas Wallace of Brocton. 

The following students from Ormsby participated: Tristan Barron of East Aurora, Ryan Brundage of Iroquois, Rachel Cappello of Orchard Park, Sean Clancy of East Aurora, Nathan Conner of Springville, Daniella Diaz of Orchard Park, Sophia Diaz of Orchard Park, Megan Lux of Orchard Park, Delorah Mast of Orchard Park, Sadie Rogers of East Aurora, Brianna Shavers of Holland, and Kyle Siepierski of East Aurora.

Siepierski took first place in the Automotive Refinishing competition. Brundage placed second in the Commercial Roofing competition.

First- and second-place finishers are invited to compete at the SkillsUSA National Competition held over the summer in Atlanta, Ga.
