E2CCB to Host Summer Enrichment Program at Ormsby

Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES (E2CCB) will host a Summer Enrichment Program at the Ormsby Educational Center for students entering grades 6 through 9, offering a hands-on introduction to Career & Technical Education in an engaging summer setting.

The program will run July 20–24, 2026, and is designed to introduce middle school students to a variety of career-focused learning experiences while building creativity, problem-solving skills, and teamwork. Participants will rotate between three programs: Culinary Arts, Construction/Makerspace, and STEAM.

Ormsby Principal Laura Sokol-Scott said the program is designed to spark curiosity and introduce students to hands-on career exploration.

“By rotating through Culinary Arts, Construction/Makerspace, and STEAM, students will develop practical skills, creative problem-solving, and confidence, all in an engaging, safe, and supportive summer setting,” Sokol-Scott said.

The Culinary Arts program introduces students to the world of cooking through hands-on kitchen experiences. Participants will explore basic culinary techniques, kitchen safety, and the creativity behind preparing dishes while developing communication and teamwork skills under the guidance of experienced instructors.

The Construction/Makerspace program offers an interactive introduction to the fundamentals of construction and design. Students will participate in hands-on projects that emphasize basic construction techniques, safety protocols, and foundational principles of architectural design.

The STEAM program immerses students in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics through collaborative projects and interactive workshops. Activities may include robotics, coding, scientific experimentation, and artistic expression, encouraging creativity and critical thinking across multiple disciplines.
