Eighth-Graders Explore Career Pathway Options at WNY P-TECH

WNY P-TECH recently welcomed eighth-grade students from Pine Valley, Gowanda, Dunkirk, and Lake Shore for its annual Discovery Day, giving visitors a firsthand look at the school’s innovative programs through Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES.

About 35 students toured the Dunkirk campus, met faculty and staff, and explored pathways in Mechatronics, Welding Technology, and Mechanical Technology, with specializations in Machine Tool and Computer-Aided Design.

“The goal of Discovery Day is to let potential students tour the school, meet staff, learn about the pathways, and interact with current students to see if WNY P-TECH is the right fit for them,” said Nicole Donato, WNY P-TECH counselor.

Current students played a key role, sharing their experiences and insights with visitors.

“It’s impressive to see our students in action, sharing their passions with prospective students,” Donato said.

WNY P-TECH offers an innovative, technology- and project-based full-day program where students can earn both a Regents Diploma and an associate degree while developing professional skills aligned with workplace expectations.

Students interested in applying for the upcoming school year should speak with their school counselors.

WNY P-TECH is located at 55 E. Benton St., Dunkirk. For more information about the program, click here.
