Happy National School Lunch Week from Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES!
E2CCB began handling its own food service last year.
Susan Bates, Associate Director of Food Service for E2CCB, handles the purchase of ingredients and meal prep. She has a team of line workers and cooks, and says the program is running smoothly and the students are “super happy” with the meals.
“We have great staff and the students and staff speak very highly of them,” says Bates. “It’s been an exciting adventure and we keep growing, learning and getting better.”
E2CCB operates five cafeterias at five sites and serves hundreds of meals every school day. The Food Service employees prepare and serve more than 1,000 meals per school day at WNY P-TECH in Dunkirk, the LoGuidice Educational Center in Fredonia, the Hewes Educational Center in Ashville, the Baker Road Educational Center in Orchard Park, and the Academy at Maple Avenue in Cassadaga.
Please join us in celebrating the following staff: Alen Carroll, Leslie Rankin Graziano, Yirlanny Villa Lobos Leon, Kayla Seagrave, Rachel Shields, Ben Soto, and Brenda Taylor.
The National School Lunch Week theme for October 13-17, 2025, is “Taste the World: Your School Lunch Passport.” The E2CCB menus this week feature pumpkin bread, tacos and churros, and pizza.

Thank you to Mr. Bob and Master Roberts, Fredonia firefighters, who joined Fredonia Fire Department Chief Ortolano and “Sparky,” for a visit to the LoGuidice Educational Center E building as part of its tour for Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 5-11.
“We’ve been to all the schools in Fredonia, pre-schools, and daycares this week,” Ortolano said of the tour. “Our main message: get out of the house and go to a meeting point. Every family should designate a meeting point, and it’s even better if you take the time to practice going to that meeting point.”
Students were able to explore the fire engine, sit in the co-pilot seat, and ring the bell. Following the tour of the apparatus, students were quizzed on fire safety.
“Does anyone know what to do if you catch on fire?” Ortolano asked the group of students, to which one student responded, “Tuck, drop, and roll!”
To end the day, one firefighter explained all the gear and equipment a firefighter needs, and dressed in the gear so that students could see that, despite the intimidating equipment, underneath, there’s always just a firefighter trying to help you.
