E2CCB North Collins Program Celebrates First-Ever Graduation Ceremony

Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES students, families, faculty and staff gathered Thursday, June 4, at North Collins High School for a milestone celebration: the first-ever graduation ceremony held specifically for the E2CCB North Collins Program.

The program has traditionally celebrated its graduates in partnership with the North Collins Central School District. This year’s ceremony gave the E2CCB North Collins school community an opportunity to recognize its Class of 2026 in a dedicated setting surrounded by the teachers, staff members, family members and friends who helped support students throughout their high school experience.

The ceremony included welcome remarks, retiree recognition, senior statements, diploma presentations, the turning of the tassel and closing remarks.

E2CCB recognized four members of the Class of 2026: Isabella Dotson, Meeya Geiogamah, Adam Lack and Dylan Mejia.

Throughout the ceremony, faculty members shared personal reflections about the graduates, highlighting their growth, character and accomplishments.

Speaking about Adam Lack, teacher Thomas Lehsten reflected on the curiosity and insight Adam brought to the classroom.

“One of the things I admire most about you is your curiosity and the incredible wealth of knowledge you bring to all conversations,” Lehsten said. “Whether discussing a class topic, a historical event, or, recently, the world of The Lord of the Rings, you always have thoughtful insights and fun facts to share.”

Lehsten also praised Adam for becoming more confident in sharing his ideas and connecting with others, encouraging him to continue embracing his love of learning and his unique perspective.

In remarks about Isabella Dotson, staff recognized her as a hardworking student whose confidence grew throughout her time in the program.

“Over the years I have seen her confidence grow in her school work and her personal relationships with staff and fellow students,” the speaker shared. “She has matured in both her academics and confidence and is also willing to step in to help other students as needed.”

Isabella was also recognized for her dedication to her CTE program and for the determination she has shown as she prepares for her next chapter.

Meeya Geiogamah was celebrated by teacher Jennifer League, who reflected on having Meeya as a student for the past four years. League described Meeya as polite, respectful, dependable and compassionate.

“One of her most noticeable qualities is her passion for animals, especially dogs,” League said. “I am so proud of how she has taken the initiative to follow her passions, and I am confident that she will continue to work hard, chase her dreams, and do so with a smile.”

Before honoring the graduates, E2CCB also recognized retiring faculty and staff members who have served the organization and its students. Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction Dr. John Griesmer helped lead the recognition, noting that the retirees “helped shape the school community our students were a part of.”

Those recognized included Debra Arendt, Teacher Aide, for 23 years of service; Debbie Blowers, Teaching Assistant, for 25 years of service; and Dawn Meyers, Physical Therapist, for 30 years of service.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of diplomas, the turning of the tassel and applause for the Class of 2026 as they marked the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.
