Seven CAM P-TECH students officially committed to their college pathways during a signing ceremony celebrating the next step in their educational journeys through partnerships with Alfred State College and SUNY Erie.
The ceremony recognized four students entering the Electrical Construction & Maintenance Electrician pathway through Alfred State and three students beginning the Information Technology pathway through SUNY Erie Community College. By signing their pathway commitments, the students began their transition from high school to college, taking the next step toward earning a college degree while continuing their high school education through the P-TECH model.
CAM P-TECH Principal Heather Banks welcomed students, families, faculty, and college partners, describing the ceremony as an important milestone.
“Today marks the beginning of their official transition from high school students to college students,” Banks said. “These students have worked hard to reach this moment, and today we celebrate their dedication, ambition and bright futures.”
Banks also highlighted the partnerships that make the program possible, noting that CAM P-TECH, Alfred State and SUNY Erie work together to provide students with the opportunity to earn a college degree while still in high school while preparing for careers in high-demand fields.
Attendees heard remarks from Jennifer Noble, assistant dean at Alfred State College, and Katherine Aiken, dean of Engineering and Technologies/STEM at SUNY Erie.
During the signing ceremony, students were recognized individually and invited to sign their pathway commitments alongside their families. Banks was assisted in the event by CAM P-TECH Counselor Tony Visco.
Students signing with Alfred State for the Electrical Construction & Maintenance Electrician pathway were Dean Miller, Dylan Morrison, and Tyler Pawlowski of Springville-Griffith, and Bentley Wall of Orchard Park.
Students signing with SUNY Erie for the Information Technology pathway were Tyler Fabbro of Orchard Park, and Peyton Porterfield and Matthew Westman of Springville-Griffith.
Banks congratulated the students and thanked families, faculty and college representatives for supporting their success.
“Today’s signing marks the beginning of an exciting journey,” Banks said. “We look forward to watching our students grow, achieve their goals and take advantage of the incredible opportunities ahead through their partnerships with Alfred State and SUNY Erie.”
The ceremony concluded with students and their families gathering for photos to commemorate the occasion before the start of the new school year.
