Hewes CDOS Students Celebrated at Completion Ceremony

Students in the Career and Technical Explorations through Career Development and Occupational Studies (CDOS) program were recently recognized during a Completion Celebration at the Hewes Educational Center.

The ceremony honored 21 students from Chautauqua Lake, Clymer, Jamestown, and Westfield who earned their CDOS Commencement Credential, marking an important milestone as they prepare for future careers and continued learning opportunities.

“Earning a CDOS Commencement Credential requires dedication, perseverance, and a commitment to developing the skills necessary for future success in the workplace and beyond,” said Alissa Rinaldo, CTE school social worker at the Hewes Educational Center.

Throughout the program, students gained real-world experience through partnerships with local organizations, including the Chautauqua County Humane Society, Chautauqua Safety Village, Save A Lot of Lakewood, Stedman Corners Coffee, Lakewood Cinema 8, and 5&2 Ministry. These work-based learning placements allowed students to build confidence, strengthen workplace skills, and explore a variety of career interests.

Many participants also took part in Career & Technical Education programs, where they developed technical skills and gained hands-on experience in fields aligned with their goals.

“These experiences provided meaningful opportunities to develop technical skills, explore future occupations, and gain a deeper understanding of the world of work,” Rinaldo said. “We are honored to celebrate their achievements and the determination they have shown in reaching this milestone. We wish them continued success and happiness as they take the next steps toward their future goals.”
