Students in the Career and Technical Explorations Through CDOS program at Hewes recently completed CPR/First Aid training at Chautauqua Safety Village. Students in Christie Asel’s and Todd Erickson’s classes earned their certification through this hands-on experience. 💪🚑

Jeffrey Luong and Carrie Gifford of the Athenaeum Hotel at Chautauqua Institution recently visited the Hewes Educational Center to work with Culinary Arts students on mock interviews, coordinated by instructor Burke Lindquist. 👩🍳🏫👨🍳
Gifford, a graduate of the Culinary Arts program at Hewes, returned to share her experience and insight with current seniors. Luong emphasized the importance of passion and engagement, noting that a student’s excitement and long-term interest in the field often stand out during the interview process.
Through mock interviews, the Career & Technical Education students gained valuable experience in professional greetings, appearance, presentation, and knowledge of their craft.
Special thanks to Luong and Gifford for helping our students build confidence and professionalism through this experience!

Ahead of Spring Recess, the Hewes Educational Center hosted its first-ever CTE Spirit Week, an initiative that combined school pride, themed dress-up days, and a donation drive supporting the Ashville Food Pantry! 🥫❤️🍴
A friendly Junior vs. Senior competition helped drive participation, with students collecting non-perishable items throughout the week. By the end, juniors contributed 193 pounds of food, while seniors brought in 316 pounds.
A big shoutout to all students and staff for coming together to make a real difference! 👏✨
