WNY P-TECH in Dunkirk recently hosted a Girls in Manufacturing Camp coordinated by Dream It Do It Western New York, welcoming students and their families from Chautauqua and Erie counties, as well as Northeast Pennsylvania! 🔧👩🔧⚙️
The pet-themed camp created a fun and welcoming atmosphere where participants shared their dream careers and even the names of their beloved pets. From plenty of dogs and cats to a standout pet chicken named Dixie, it was a great way to break the ice and build connections.
A big thank you to Nestlé Purina North America for sponsoring the camp, bringing in guest speakers who shared their career journeys and introduced students to opportunities within the company. Campers also took part in a hands-on sensory activity used in pet food quality testing and received some great Purina swag.
Special thanks to SUNY JCC for providing a portable lathe experience, where campers learned how to operate the machine and create custom dog tags, pet tags, and bracelets.
Events like this continue to open doors and spark interest in manufacturing careers for young women across our region. 💡
