Culinary Arts seniors Allison Francis (East Aurora) and Austin Erhardt (Iroquois) are among 23 Career & Technical Education students from the Ormsby Educational Center — and 60 students across Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES — traveling today to take part in the SkillsUSA Region I competition at Alfred State College! 👩🍳👨🍳
More than 900 students and guests are expected at the Leadership Conference & Skills Olympics.

Did you know that Read Across America Day coincides with world-renowned and beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss’s birthday?! The National Education Association established Read Across America in 1998 to motivate all children to read and is held yearly on March 2nd, Dr. Seuss’s birthday!
We highlight some important messages shared from our incredible E2CCB’s Science of Reading (SOR) team. Cassandra Godios states “Reading is escaping to unknown worlds and leaving behind the everyday, discovering new places, cultures, and people. But it is more than that. The words, the sentences, the pages carry power. I want all students to be given the power and instruction, and to feel capable readers, so they too can unlock knowledge, explore, unwind, and journey through a book.”
Connie Stahl, another instructor of the SOR team, says “Reading opens up doors to everything that you want to do in life. It enables you to experience places that you would never be able to go to physically. It allows you to have a conversation with people who lived long before you, and it helps you to accomplish anything that you want in the world of employment. On Read Across America Day, I always love to read Dr. Seuss because I find his imagination fascinating.”
Read Across America Day reminds us the importance of literacy and the fun of learning! Students and children are encouraged to think for themselves and connect with the stories they read and love. Let’s celebrate the joy of reading together!

Students enrolled in the Criminal Justice program at LoGuidice recently took part in a science lab led by Jennifer Griem. Juniors and seniors in Jennie Alessi’s class explored the critical role autopsies play in criminal investigations. 🔬🕵️♂️
During the lab, students conducted a simulated autopsy using a pickle as part of the exercise, carefully documenting “injuries” and recording detailed observations to determine what may have occurred.
Autopsies are a key part of forensic investigations, providing objective, scientific evidence that can connect suspects to crimes, clear the innocent, and help reconstruct events.

Students at WNY P-TECH in Dunkirk recently rolled up their sleeves for an industry-focused challenge that put their STEM skills to the test! 🛠️📐⚙️
Led by longtime educator Dan Thomas and Cindy Aronson of Dream It Do It WNY, students were tasked with designing a scaled-down prototype machine capable of moving a desktop CNC lathe from a vehicle to the school’s Machine Tool shop.
